Women Ethnic Groups In Bassa Unite Against Insecurity

 Bassa Women for Peace and Unity Association has admonished women in the local government area to unite against the incessant bloodshed in the area.


The women converged on the Ogomo Pengana Hall in Jengre, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.


 Speaking at the meeting, president of the association, Hajiya Rashida Usman Yahaya explained that the meeting which involves women from all the ethnic groups, met to express their dissatisfaction with the happening in the local government.


  She charged the women never to get tired of the happenings and the insecurity including the increasing cases of kidnapping which are now rampant in the state.


Some of women who spoke at the town hall meeting expressed interest and readiness to identify with the association which they described as a good development that had to ever happen to the citizenry in the area.


Before the town hall meeting, the president with some key officials of the Association also paid a courtesy call to Paramount Traditional Ruler of Pengana chiefdom, Esau Mamman Shayang Ogomo pengana.
 

She solicited the cooperation and support of the traditional ruler in the implementation of the association programmes in the state.


She hinted that plans have been concluded for the official launching of the association in bassa local government headquarter 
 The association was also at the office of the Divisional Police Officer   in Jengre, where the DPO, Alobo E John thanked the women for the initiative.


He said there is crucial need for all the stakeholders in the local government area to work towards solving the protracted crisis. 


 According to him, the area has suffered series of unfortunate crisis between Fulani and other tribes in the local government.


 The Divisional Police Officer explained that the station will assist the association in finding a lasting solution.


He charged the members of the association under the leadership of Hajiya Usman to continue with the good work aimed at ensuring peace amongst the various ethnic groups.
