We’re On Top Of Security Situation –  Nasarawa Council Boss

The Executive Chairman of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Council, Honourable Danladi Idris (Odasco) has frowned at the recent spate of insecurity in the area and assured residents that his administration is on top of the situation. 

Idris made this known in a statement on Tuesday, while reacting to the abduction of the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Yakubu Lawal in the area. 

Lawal was kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Monday night at his residence in Nasarawa Eggon. 

Similarly, a teacher with the Government Science Secondary School Nasarawa Eggon, Mr Auta Nesla was gruesomely murdered on Saturday night. 

Reacting, the council Chairman who described the situation as totally unacceptable, vowed to leave no stone unturned to ensure that normalcy is restored. 

“In recent times, some criminals have refused to allow the good and innocent people of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area to go about their farming and other economic activities.

“These criminals have succeeded in instilling fear on our people who go about their lawful businesses by abducting them for ransom.

“The latest of  them was the killing of a teacher in Government Science School, Nasarawa Eggon on Saturday night and the kidnapped of the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon Lawal Mohammed.

“The commissioner was kidnapped around 8pm on Monday, in his residence in Nasarawa Eggon town, by unknown gunmen who shot sporadically and whisked him away

“As we are all aware, security challenges are not peculiar to Nasarawa Eggon LG, as such it is totally unacceptable by the APC administration under my watch as the chief security officer of the council.

“I wish to re-assure the people of Nasarawa Eggon LG, that we are on top of the situation to ensure the quick release of the Honourable Commissioner by his abductors and curtail the ugly security situation in the area,” the Chairman stated. 

He called on residents to be vigilant and report any clandestine movement to the security for prompt action.
