As there might be tendency for quacks and incompetent teachers to lobby their way back into classrooms, the Kaduna State Government has said that it will not rest on its oars in ensuring that only capable hands teach children..
This was as the chairman of Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB) Nasiru Umar disclosed that despite completing the re-screening and induction exercise for the newly recruited teachers, the state government is poised on going after incompetent teachers or successful ones among the newly recruited applicants who bribed their way into classrooms.
He said: “Even if you scale through, we are going to fish you out in the classrooms,” he stressed.
According to the chairman, 15 thousand applicants were given probational letter of appointment but not all of them will qualify.
It could be recalled that the state Governor , Malam Nasir el-Rufai recently at a roundtable in Abuja, disclosed that some among the applicants could not write their acceptance letters, when ordered to do so.
Umar in an interview with journalists said the essence of writing the acceptance letter in presence of the panel was to filterate those who might have come in through the back door.
The chairman who was asked how many among those with the probational letters of appointment excelled in the re-screening exercise said, ” I cannot give you that because I have to get the details from the Education Management Information System, (EMIS).
“So what we deed was to delist those who are not suitable. Only the successful ones will be inducted. We are still under filtering process.”
“The letter offered to them was probational and can be terminated at any time. It was clearly stated in the letter issued,” he noted.
