The President of Nigeria Association of Women Entrepreneurs, Hajia Aisha Aliko Muhammed has urged women to venture into business, saying they are better business managers than men.
She made the call during the celebration of the 2022 International Women’s Day (IWD) organised by the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Kaduna North Local Government Area chapter
Hajia Hajia Aisha Aliko Muhammed cited herself as an example, explaining that she has never worked for any government establishment, rather, she started a business of her own.
According to her, she ventured into business and today, she’s comfortable, hence, calling on other women to follow suit.
In her remarks, President of the Society, Amina Lawal called for continuous agitation towards gender equality.
Speaking to the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘Breaking the Bias’ Mrs. Lawal noted that it cannot be achieved by simply talking to people but through activism in many forms.
“I think it has to do with women in every sector, identifying the bias they face in their respective sectors. They should not only identify the bias, but also the losses suffered as a result of such bias,”
She suggested that this year’s theme should be sustained until gender equality is achieved.
Aliko decried the fact that while there are lots of inequality for female citizens in the country, some are even backed by laws and this she said, calls for continuous agitation across sectors.
Similarly, a ‘He for She’, Engr. Jibril Galadima Umar who is working with Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), urged women to unite, pledging to support them.
