There is every possibility that three presidential aspirants, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Bala Abdulkadir Mohammmed within the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) having resolved to work in harmony towards the attainment of their common goal, the presidency in the 2023 polls
The resolution to work together followed their meeting in Bauchi Sunday where they spent over two hours in close-door discussions on the 2023 presidential elections, and held that the stability, growth and development of the country is paramount than their individual ambitions.
Immediate past senate president, Abubakar Bukola Saraki was the spokesman of the three PDP chieftains meeting in Bauchi where he said, “We believe in the course of that responsibility of working together, we pray our personal ambitions is secondary to this county”.
Rt. Hon. Saraki stated, “There is the need for us to work together, we believe that three of us can work together in harmony, committed and with a lot of resilience and energy, there would a great hope for this country of ours going ahead”.
“We appreciate that the three of us have shown aspirations to lead this country, and we also come to realize that we are all capable and competent to lead this country, but at the end of the day its only one person that would lead the country in 2023”.
He explained that they were moved by the hardship Nigerians are going through as a result of high cost of living, and looking ahead towards 2023, their concern is that PDP is the only viable option today to rescue this country and to provide hope for the citizens.
The presidential aspirants said that as key stakeholders in the PDP, there is the need for them to put heads together and see how best they could provide leadership and direction to the country that has been bedeviled by multifarious challenges in every facet of life.
“We also resolved that we would work closely to ensure that we come out with a way of consensus among us in such a way of moving the country forward. We believe our role is to make this easier for us to have stability, because if there is stability in PDP, there would be stability in Nigeria”, Saraki said.
Saraki informed the press that they would also brief their senior brother, the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar about their Bauchi resolutions in which they have agreed to work together and to ensure that Nigeria comes first in whatever they deliberate, adding “We would continue to meet and work along this line”.
He said however that none of the three of them that attended the meeting could speak on behalf of anybody who was not at their Bauchi discussions, “But we have agreed to go and share thoughts with elder brother Waziri to let him and Iam sure and hopeful he would be able to comment in this area”.
According to him, all their supporters to reduce the rhetoric having made themselves one family with no fight among themselves, assuring Nigerians that the end will by God’s grace be very bright for all.
The trio believe that APC is no longer a party, having challenges of administering its own house, saying that anybody who cannot administer a party, cannot be able to administer the country.
“So the only option left for Nigerians is PDP, and we believe in the course of that responsibility, we must pray our personal ambition is secondary to this county. we believe what we have done today would lay the foundation for a great future for this country”.
“Today it is only one party standing for this country because the other party is about to completely collapse, and for Nigerians they want to see that the future is bright, they want to see that the PDP that they have is showing seriousness.
“Lastly what we are here talking about is that there are those of us who have shown interest, that we aware of, there is one from the south in the PDP, other candidate may also want to join us and we are ready to sit down and discuss”, he concluded.
