The United States of America (US) Embassy in Abuja has raised a fresh alarm over possible terror attacks in Nigeria’s capital city.

Although the authenticity could not be verified as at time of filing this report, this was contained in a memo sighted by our correspondent, purportedly emanating from the embassy, dated Sunday October 23, 2022.

“There is an elevated risk of terror attacks in Nigeria, specifically in Abuja,” the memo said.

According to the memo titled, “Security  Alert: U.S. Embassy Abuja (October 23, 2022)

Location: Abuja Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria” possible targets included,  public buildings.

“Targets may include, but are not limited to, government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping malls, hotels,

bars, restaurants, athletic gatherings, transport terminals, law enforcement facilities, and international organizations,” it said.

However, a search on the US embassy official website, https://ng.usembassy.gov/security-notice-elevated-risk-of-terror-attacks/ provided a link to the alert raised.

The U.S. Embassy therefore, informed that it will offer reduced

services until further notice.

It advised  avoiding  all non-essential travel or movement.

It also advised staying  alert alert and  avoiding crowds.

“Review your personal security plans and keep your cell phone charged in case of emergency.

“Carry proper identification,” it further advised.

When calls were put through to the embassy via its official phone line,  a prompt directed our correspondent to an emergency service line, where the lady who picked, said they don’t work weekends, but can be contacted on Monday October 24.
