Vandals have dismantled rail tracks at.Chidunu village under Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State with almost definite intentions of coming back to evacuate the track rails and sleepers .

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer Northern District, Alhaji Abdullahi and made available to New Nigerian said due to the fact that it was difficult to arrange for logistics to evacuate before it got dark and the volatility of that axis, we discussed with the local vigilantes/ hunters to keep vigil on the stretch of the dismantled track .

He said, on Sunday, they got a report that the vandals/ thieves were arrested during their illicit operation with two long trucks (trailers) loaded with rail track materials unfortunately the third truck which was a Canter truck was able to escape with some rail track materials .

The case is at present with the NSCDC , O.C. Anti-Vandal for further investigation. At this moment, it can only be confirmed that the available suspects with the NSCDC are the two truck drivers.

According to the statement, arrangement is ongoing for a meeting with the NSCDC Command Kaduna State for follow up and to enable them give a more comprehensive report.

“Also early hours of Saturday 16th March , 2024 we got an information that rail track materials were stacked at Kankomi Railway Station, North Central District in Kaduna, our findings made us to realize that this was done by Vandals, so we alerted the local vigilantes for surveillance, eventually two suspects were arrested and are now with the Railway Police at Kaduna Junction Station.
