Ten Ibadan Kingmakers Announce Lekan Balogun As Olubadan Elect

It was jubilation galore at the ancient Mapo Hall in Ibadan on Wednesday  as 10 of the eleven Kingmakers who are  members of the Olubadan-in-Council announced the Otun Olubadan,

High Chief Lekan Balogun as the  Olubadan of Ibadanland elect  .
The 10 Kingmakers at a world press conference addressed by the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola declared that the announcement followed a meeting and resolution by them  that High Chief Balogun is next in line and would in line with the tradition ascend the throne of Olubadan.
According to High Chief Ajibola,  contrary to insinuations making around, there was nothing like legal tussle on the succession to the Olubadan throne and that the name of High Chief Lekan Balogun would be forwarded to Governor, Seyi Makinde for approval by the Oyo state government
The press conference was attended by other 9 Kingmakers comprising of  Balogun Olubadan, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin; Ashipa Olubadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole; Osi Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola; Ekaarun Olubadan, Amidu Ajibade; Ashila Balogun Olubadan, Lateef Gbadamosi, Ekaarun Balogun, Kola Adegbola and Ekerin Olubadan Abiodun Kola-Daisi.
The Olubadan elect, High Chief Lekan Balogun while speaking at the Press conference disclosed that ” by way of duty, as the Prime Minster of the Olubadan-in-Council, we owe the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general the obligations to inform and update you all on the latest development at our Palace”.
Enjoining  the people of Ibadan and the entire Nigerians ” to discard with all unfounded rumours and insinuations capable of disturbing the peace of Ibadanland, irrespective of the quarter from which such fake news emanate”, the Olubadan elect said in line with the traditional practice of Ibadanland when occasion like this arises, the Olubadan-in-Council has been up and doing liaising with the Oyo State Government to ensure that every necessary step to sustain the peace of the City is strictly followed.”
” It is with gratitude to the Almighty God that I welcome you all here today in order to apprise ourselves with the latest development in the City of Ibadan. One , as a bonafide indigene of Ibadanland, there is a natural need for me to join you in commiserating with the family of the late Oba on the sudden home call of our Kabiyesi, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogunguniso II the late Olubadan of Ibadanland.”, he said.
The Olubadan elect added, ” two, by way of duty, as the Prime Minster of the Olubadan-in-Council, we owe the people of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general the obligations to inform and update you all on the latest development at our Palace.”
” It is no longer news that our much referred Kabiyesi, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogunguniso II the Olubadan of Ibadanland has joined his ancestors. It is my prayer that the Almighty God to whom all mortals shall return will accept his home call, forgive his sins and grant him Al-jannah Firdaous. May his gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace”. 
The Olubadan elect stressed that the  good deeds of late Oba Adetunji ” in respect of his dedication and commitment to the promotion and sustenance of peace and development of Ibadanland and Oyo State in general shall remain indelible in the hearts of our people”. 
” He was a peace-loving and an outstanding custodian of culture and tradition who held on strictly to the principles of excellent leadership. He would forever be remembered for his consistency and tenacity of purpose in whatever he believed would advance the course of Ibadanland.”
