The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development North West Zone Seminar on National Sports Industry (Changing the face of Sports in Nigeria)  seeks to ensure the sector becomes a big business venture.
Zonal Sports Officer, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris expressed this in an interview with newsmen on the sidelines of the seminar, held at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna on Thursday November 25, 2021.

“The aim of the workshop is to have an interactive session to see how the new sports policy on business will be achieved.
“The document was made public in Delta last year. By the calibre of people here, we are optimistic of success,” he said.
According to him, the idea is  bringing in businessmen to invest  their money in sports and yeild benefits.
“NIgeria will be world-class sports nation by the time this is implemented,” he assured
The Zonal Sports Officer therefore, called on businessesmen,  corporate organisations and public spirited individuals  to invest in sports.
“And they will get benefits. So many youth have energy which if not channeled positively, will be put into negative activities like drug abuse and vices,” he stressed.
According  to him, they were expecting only  25 participants at the seminar, but we’re overwhelmed when over 50 turned up.
The seminar had as its heme, “Sports as a business in modern times”.
Earlier in his welcome address, he said that  the states that failed to turn up  are missing a lot.
The three-day workshop had Wednesday November 24 as arrival and accreditation, while Friday November 26 serves as departure.
