RRS Apprehends Electricity Cable Vandals In Lagos

Two suspected armoured cable vandals have been arrested in Lagos by police operatives.

It was reliably learnt that the suspects were nabbed by operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command.

The suspects, identified as Wasiu Olainukan 25 and Habib Rasaq 30, were arrested on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at about 3:45 a.m. while excavating and cutting cables powering street lights in the area. 

Officials of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested two cable vandals attempting to cut armoured cables in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The police public relations officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the report in a release made available to journalists on Monday.

He hinted that,  “Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, who were arrested with a handsaw and cutting pliers, were labourers on Banana Island. 

Hundeyin added that the Commander  of Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi has since transferred the suspects and exhibits to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti for further investigation and prosecution.
