Ramadan:  Gov. Inuwa Attends Closing Session Of Tafsir At Modibbo Bubayero Mosque

*Charges Muslims to pray for success of leaders, prosperity of Gombe State, Nigeria

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has called on the Muslim Umma to use the remaining days of the Holy Month of Ramadan to intensify prayers for the state and the nation.

According to a statement signed by the Director-General (Press Affairs)

Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, made available on Tuesday April 18,  the governor was speaking during the Closing Session of Ramadan Tafsir at Modibbo Bubayero Juma’at Mosque, Emir’s Palace Gombe.

The governor said, “At this critical time that power will soon change hands in our country, it is my appeal that people will indulge in prayers for the incoming leaders at various positions for God to grant them wisdom and guide them in discharging their leadership responsibilities”.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alh. Abubakar Inuwa Kari, the governor urged people to continue to cherish the relative peace and harmony enjoyed in the state, calling on the clerics to continue to preach the gospel of unity and tolerance among different sects for peace and development of Gombe State and the country at large.

The Governor thanked all stakeholders who contributed towards the success of the month-long Tafsir at the mosque and throughout the State, maintaining that the exercise has brought a lot of blessings to Gombe and the country in general.

“For our clerics who oversaw this year’s Tafsir at various places across the state, we are grateful for your contributions and sacrifices, and we pray to Almighty Allah to reward you abundantly”, he said, urging followers to put into practice the lessons learned during the tafsir sessions for a good life in this world and hereafter.

The governor enjoined Muslims to celebrate the forthcoming Eid Festivities in peace and tranquility according to the sunnah of the prophet Muhammad (SAW) while avoiding anything that may invoke the wrath of the Lord.

In his remarks, the Emir of Gombe and Chairman Gombe State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, His Royal Highness, Alh. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, CFR thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for sending a strong delegation to represent him at the closing session of the tafsir which he said is a proof of his sincere concern for religious activities and to the palace.

He thanked all the clerics who presided over this year’s Ramadan Tafsir sessions at different places in the state capital, especially the deputy Imam, Modibbo Bubayero Mosque, who presided over this year’s annual tafsir at the mosque.

The Royal Father used the occasion to call on people to pray for and respect constituted authorities for the overall success of government policies and programmes as well as the prosperity of the people.

“We call on people to respect constituted authorities and support the incumbent government because it is through this that a society attains peace and development”, he noted.

Earlier speaking, the Deputy Imam of the Mosque Barrister Aliyu Hammari appreciated the contribution of all stakeholders including security men, First Aid Groups, the Mosque Committee, Leaders of Islamic Organisations, etc who contributed towards the success of this year’s Ramadan Tafsir at the mosque.

In their separate goodwill messages, Shaikh Musa Dan Bayo, Shaikh Hamza Adamu Abdulhamid and Shaikh Isa Taliyawa admonished Muslims to promote peace and unity, give charity and uphold the spirit of brotherhood during and after Ramadan.

Special prayers were offered for peace and progress of Gombe State and the nation in general.
