Quintessential Super Cop Mohammed Ali Back In Lagos As AIG Zone 2 Command

Criminals in Lagos and Ogun states  should be prepared for a hard time or relocate, as a die hard crime buster, AIG Ari Mohammed Ali has been deployed as the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge Zone Command, comprising of Lagos and Ogun States.

Ali, who was among the 24 Commissioners of Police (CPs) newly elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIG), was on Friday deployed to head the Zone 2 Command of the Police Force by the Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba.

Until his elevation as a Commissioner of Police and deployment to Delta Police Command in December, 2020, Ali, popularly known as “Powerful” among Crime Reporters, was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge Operations (DCP Ops) Lagos State Police Command.

The new Zone 2 Police Command helmsman can proudly be said to have possessed an in+depth knowledge of policing in Lagos, having spent most part of his nearly 33 years in service working in Lagos.

A man with uncanny records of breakthrough in crime fighting and bursting, Ali at a point in time served as the Crime Officer Denton Police Station, Oyingbo, Ebute-metta, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Apapa, twice as Assistant Commissioner of Police Area “C” Command  Surulere, before being posted out of Lagos.

With his mastery of the arts and science of crime and criminality and his acumen of how best to burst them, Ali’s being posted to the Zone would no doubt be a big relief for all and sundry to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere under his watch as supervisor, except for criminal elements.

As testament to some of his achievement as a super cop and extra ordinairy crime burster, Ali while holding sway in Apapa of Lagos foiled several bank robbery, with the recovery of five AK47 rifles and 1500 rounds of live ammunition in 2009.

A thorough- breed professional, who always bring his wealth of knowledge and experience to bear wherever he serves, AIG Ali had served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Zone 7 Command Benue, FCT Police Staff College, also in Rivers State and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Bayelsa State.

He had at a point in time served as Officer in charge of General Investigation State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Asaba, DPO Avenue Police Station Warri, DPO B Division Asaba, DPO Head Bridge, Asaba,  Staff Officer Junior (SOJ), Asaba.and DPO Agbor among others.

The new AIG Zone 2 Police Command, who hails from Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990 and attended the elite Police Academy, Kaduna.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Library/Political Science from the University of Maiduguri,  Master of Science in Industrial Relations form the Delta. State University, Abraka and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D..)in Industrial Relations from Irish University Business School, Pembroke Square, United Kingdom.
