The Nigeria police Force (NPF) is set to commence the use of animals including donkeys and dogs in the fight against tailored insurgency especially in North-East Zone of the country, now ravaged by an act of inhumanity perpetrated over the years.
Plateau State Commissioner of Police. Mr. Peter Babatunde O. stated this at the annual First Force Leadership Conference held at the Police Staff College, Bukuru near Jos , Plateau State.
He told the members of the ranks and file at the course to make good use of the technical knowledge acquired during the training.
According to the police commissioner, “The need for the collective security cannot be over emphasized hence the need for the citizenry to give the police a helping hand in the war against insurgency“
Represented by the commandant of the college, AIG Dorathy Gilbert, he stressed the crucial need for organizations in the country to lay the needed emphasis on training and retraining of their staff.
She said that crime is dynamic and that it advances as the society grows.
The commissioner of Police Force Animal Branch North, Aishatu Baju explained that the first Animal Branch which comprises of veterinary dogs and mountain troops need to be maintained and sustained for a meaningful fight against the insurgency.
She explained that it was the relevant unit of the special force which needed to be maintained in the country.
