Police Neutralizes 3 Robbers, Arrests One In Akwa Ibom (Graphic Image)



In the resolve to take the fight to the criminal den and ease the society of terrorism and attack, operatives of the Nigeria Police Command in Akwa Ibom State have killed three armed robbers and arrested another, while trying to dislodge them.

A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Odiko Macdon said that the robbers said to be responsible for robberies around Ikot Ekpene and environs, were pulled down on March 20, 2024 at Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of the state.

“In compliance with the CP’s directive, on 20/3/2024, Crack Team of Ikot Ekpene Division, responded to a distress call, engaged armed robbers, numbering about ten who were robbing at N.D.D.C Hall/National Museum, Ikot Inyang Village and environs.

“In the ensuing gun duel, three of the Suspects were neutralised while one was arrested and others escaped with bullet wounds. A locally made pistol, one expanded and one live cartridges were recovered. Also recovered were vandalized wire cables among other items.” Macdon stated.

Assuring a crime free society, the police image maker maintained that the Command would in consonance with the mandate of the CP for a safer and peaceful Akwa Ibom, continue to take the fight to criminal elements and bringing them to book.

“Those perpetrating acts of robberies and kidnapping or violent crimes should be ready to bear the consequences if they don’t desist forthwith.” The release warned.

Recall the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Waheed Ayilara has met with Tactical Commanders of the Command and reviewed the deployment of tactical assets for optimal security service delivery for Akwa Ibom State. The CP has handed down a standing order to smoke out and bring to justice those who think they can attempt to truncate the peace and tranquility of the State through kidnapping, armed robbery and other heinous crimes.
