Police Kills One Assailant, Two Officers Shot As Armed Robbers Attack Bullion Van In Ibadan

It was confusion galore in Ibadan on Thursday as gunmen suspected to be armed robbers attacked a bullion van Idi-Ape area of Ibadan.
It was learnt that during the gun duel between the police and armed robbers at least three people feared killed.
New Nigerian gathered from an eye witness account that

the Idi Ape area of Ibadan, a stone throw to the Agodi Police Divisional headquarters was rented with sporadic gunshots during the faceoff between the armed robbers and the policemen escorting the bullion van.
Eye witness account said  the bullion van was coming from one of the new generation banks located around Testing Ground Area of Idi Ape when the armed robbers suddenly surfaced and blocked the bullion van amidst sporadic shootings.
Residents and shop owners as well as passers by on hearing the gunshot fled to hideouts in the area while some care owners and commercial vehicles drivers abandoned their buses on the road and ran for safety.
Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onadeko while speaking during her on the spot visit to the scene of the incident disclosed that  nobody was killed in the robbery attack only that Two policemen were shot on the leg by the armed robbers.
” Nobody was killed as of now , and infact I can’t really say anything now because I am still trying to access the situation and to find out what actually happened but I can tell you sure that two of my men were shot on leg, let’s just do our investigation and then we will be able to tell you and give you more details”, she said
The Commissioner of Police  added, ”  I will give more information on this when we finally get the details of what actually happened. One of the police men on escort with the bullion van shot dead one of the robbers and they carried the robber that was shot with them.”
