Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari has received the Torch of Unity for the 21st National Sports Festival (NSF),  tagged,  “Asaba 2022”.

Receiving the Torch of Unity on behalf of the governor, the  Commissioner of Sports, Bishir Gambo Saulawa assured of the state’s readiness to send its  talents to feature at the event.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari explained that 170 athletes and  officials would represent the state and compete in 16 different sports out of 32 that would be featured at the festival.

Governor Masari drew the attention of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the need to promote traditional sports in the country too.

He noted that the removal of traditional sports from the 21st festival is a great setback to the promotion of traditional sports in the society.

The governor assured of more participation of the  youth from the state at both  national and international levels in order to give equal opportunities to them to rub minds with their counterparts from other states of the federation.

Earlier, the North-West Zonal Co-ordinator, represented by Mr. Gideon Malo handed over the Torch of Unity to Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari.

He pointed out that the gesture was a signal of the commencement of the National Sports Festival.
