Kaduna Govt Flags Off Cash, Educational Materials Distribution To 2,674 Almajiris

Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe on Wednesday,  flagged off the disbursement of conditional cash transfer and distribution of learning materials to over 2,674 almajiris in the state.

The Kaduna State disbursement of conditional cash transfer and distribution of educational materials was held at the Yaradua Hall of Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna.

 Tagged, “Children in Street Situation Programme” it seeks to provide support for their integration with their families and the larger community.

The deputy governor who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Barrister James Kanyip, said  that Kaduna State Government believes in the future of its children and is committed to their human capital development. 

According to her, Kaduna State Government has therefore, continued to prioritise free basic education and has enacted a law that makes basic education compulsory in the state, while partnering with bodies like the UNICEF to take all street children back to the classroom.

The programme  supported by UNICEF,  ensures that each child benefiting from the programme gets a birth certificate from the National Population Commission, NIN and State Residency Identity Number from Kaduna Residents Registration Agency, enrolled in public schools under SUBEB and has a special bank account created and managed by Keystone Bank.

In a remark, UNICEF Child Protection Specialist, Dr Wilfred Mamah commended the Kaduna State Government for having, “clarity of purpose and showing leadership.

” UNICEF and Kaduna State Government believe that the best place for a child to be is the family,” Mamah added.
