Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) has appointed and posted Professor Yahaya Ibrahim Makarfi as a new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) to Katsina State.
A statement by head of Department Voter Education and Publicity, Shehu Sa’idu said that Professor Yahaya Ibrahim is a lecturer of the Faculty of Environment Design Department of Quality Surveying as well as the Director for Academic Planning Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
Shehu Sa’idu informed that the new appointee is among the 19 newly sworn-in RECs by the chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmud Yakubu.
The new REC has since been received in Katsina by the Administrative Secretary, Isah Magaji Gummi in company of the heads of departments and other staff of the commission.
In a related development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would embark on the display, claims and objections of the preliminary register of voters from Saturday November 12 to 18, 2022.
The exercise is one of the processes involved in the clean-up of the voters register so that at the end a reliable and credible register of voters produced.
The process followed a complaint made by a registrant, whose details have been omitted or incorrect, whereas an objection is made by any person against the inclusion of another person’s name and other details in the register.
All registered voters are expected to present themselves to their respective registration areas to check their particulars in the display of preliminary voters register.
The exercise would be conducted at registration area centres from 12th to 18th of this month and local government offices from 19th to 25th of same month respectively.
