The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Mrs Saratu Umar has reaffirmed the commitment of the agency in driving foreign direct investment into Nigeria’s economy.

The NIPC Executive Secretary disclosed this during the agency’s 2023 budget defence before the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment at the National Assembly  in Abuja.

She solicited for the support of the National Assembly in making the NIPC at par with its counterparts around the world.

Mrs Saratu further noted that with the support of the National Assembly, the commission will play a great role in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)  into Nigeria to reduce  reliance on oil, while ensuring investment is channelled into certain non oil sectors in order to generate forex.

Earlier, the chairman of the committee, Senator Saidu Alkali and some members of the committee said that the Senate will continue to ensure regular and proper monitoring of all federal government agencies in order to ensure that they are delivering on their mandates.

The committee also commended the management of the commission led by Mrs Saratu Umar for its vision, even though she was appointed a few months ago.
