NSCDC Nabs Four Suspected Kidnappers Of 2-yr Old Baby In Zamfara

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Zamfara State Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers who attempted the kidnapping of a 2 year old baby in Gusau the state capital.

Parading the suspects at the State Command Headquarters Gusau on Monday, the State NSCDC Commandant , Muhammad Bello Muazu said that the suspects who are mainly teenagers, were arrested in connection with attempted forceful kidnapping of a 2-year old baby by name, Hawau Masaud, whom the elder sister by name, Umalkaidi Shahibilu 13 years old, was carrying during an errand in the area.

“On the 21st January 2023 at Angwa Shado a suburb area of Gusau metropolitan, our operatives after receiving a distress call on the matter , swung into action which led to the arrest of the suspects in an uncompleted building in the scene of the incident “. He said.

According to him, in the process, one of the suspects whom Umalkaidi described to be wearing a black up and down clothes with white spots, who was later identified as Muslim Sani, came and forcefully snatched the baby from her and ran into an uncompleted building, were the other three accomplices were hibernating.

The NSCDC Commandant, Muhammad further said that the elder sister to the kidnapped baby raised an alarm, which attracted the community members who eventually tracked the kidnapped baby to the uncompleted building, where the four suspects were arrested.

“The suspects include, Muslim Sani ‘M’ 25years, Abdulrazak Bashir ‘M’ 20 years, Tukur Bello ‘M’ 24years, Jafar Lawal ‘M’ 23years”. Mu’azu said.

The suspects however, said that they were in the uncompleted building under the influence of drugs and marijuana and denied any knowledge of the said crime and claimed to be heaveiy dazed with opium and marijuana.

However, preliminary investigations revealed that the four suspects were at the crime scene and two of them were identified by the elder sister and brother to the kidnapped baby respectively, as those who snatched and harboured the kidnapped baby as testified.

Commandant Muhammad Bello Muazu however, reiterated that the suspects will be taken to court after investigation is concluded.

He however, advised parents to be vigilant and to be always mindful of whereabouts of their children.

He also emphatically warned that criminals and crime of any sort will never be tolerated by the corps, while calling on the perpetrators of such odious crime to relocate or face the wrath of the law if apprehended.
