Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has declared that none of the looters of Nigeria treasury will go without facing prosecution in line with the laws of the land.
The Minister dropped this hint while speaking at a Fresh FM Ibadan live Yoruba programme “Ojukoju”monitored by the New Nigerian.
Barrister Shittu declared that the President Muhammadu Buhari led government is determined to ensure that all those involved in the looting of Nigeria’s treasury are duly prosecuted.
He emphasized that as far as the President Buhari’s led administration is concerned, there will be no going back in the on going fight against corrupt Nigerians and corruption in and across the country.
Specifically, the Minister disclosed that President Buhari has vowed to ensure that all those involved in the looting of the nation’s treasury even if any his own blood was found to be involved in any corrupt practices would face prosecution.
He declared that the President Buhari led government on assumption of office met a spoiled economy arising from the failure of the last PDP government to save for the raining days when the price of oil was stable and booming.
Barrister Shittu lamented that rather than keeping the funds from the oil in the nation’s treasury, those in the last PDP led government were allegedly busy sharing the money generated from the oil proceeds.
Commenting on ways of ending the prolonged crises between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers in some parts of the country, the Minister expressed his support for the creation of grazing land across the country saying doing so will be a lasting solution to the frequent clashes between the herdsmen and farmers.
Speaking further, he hinted that Federal government has recovered some of the looted funds including those voluntarily returned by the looters but quickly added that for now Federal government cannot be spending from the already recovered funds as some of the funds are to serve as evidence against some of these looters.
On Oyo state politics, the Minister declared that presently in the state’s political circle, he remains the most senior politician in the state having started as a lawmaker in the old Oyo State House of Assembly in 1979 and as a Commissioner for Information under the three months old regime of Dr Omololu Olunloyo in I983.
He however tasked Nigerians to continue praying fervently for President Muhammadu Buhari and be ready to support his administration in his efforts towards returning the lost glory of Nigeria in the comity of nations.
