We cant address unemployment among youths alone – NDE

The Acting Director General of National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mr.Olakunle Obanyan has said that the directorate alone cannot address the problem of unemployment among the youths in the country.
Represented by Taraba State coordinator, Mr Aderami Adebisi  at three Months environmental beautification training in Jalingo Thursday, the Acting Director General however called on states, local government and non-governmental organizations to partner with the directorate in tackling rate of unemployment among youths in the country.
He said stakeholders at all level should resettle beneficiaries of various training offered by the directorate to enable them be self-sustainable.
The Director General disclosed that NDE will continue to evolve new schemes in its various departments by training unemployed youths on specialized and marketable skills to make them entrepreneurs.
Mr. Obanyan said that in the face of unemployment and the dwindling economy in the country, there was the need to encourage the youths to learn ways and means to be self-employed.
He said the environmental beautification training scheme (EBTS) which was conceptualized by the special public works department of the directorate, was aimed at reducing  the menace of unemployment among the youths in the country.
The Director General however urged unemployed youths and those about retiring to take advantage of training offered by the directorate.
He appealed to owners of small and medium businesses where the beneficiaries would be posted, to help in nurturing and mentoring them to be fully established as entrepreneurs.
In his address at the occasion, special adviser to governor Darius on Youths and sport, Mr Elisha Solomon commended the NDE for its effort towards encouraging the youths to be self employed by giving them various skills training.
