A mother and her female child were on Sunday crushed to death in a fatal auto crash along the Ihiala-Onitsha expressway in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to a press release by the Ag. Director of Public Education of the Anambra State Sector of FRSC, Margaret B. Onabe (DRC), the crash involved a Nissan Caravan bus, with registration number: ACA 989 ZW belonging to ONYEMAECHI Transport Company.
Onabe who disclosed this in a statement in Awka, attributed the probable cause of the crash to tyre burst.
She said, “Eye witness account indicated that the driver of the bus lost control as a result of tyre burst and crashed.
“Twelve people comprising five male adults, five female adults, one male child, and a female child according to her were involved in the crash in which the adult female and the female child died.
“The injured victims were rushed to Nnadi Hospital, and Infant Jesus Hospital Ihialla, by FRSC personnel where the female adult and the female child were confirmed dead by the doctors on duty.
“The Anambra State Sector Commander of FRSC, Adeoye Irelewuyi (CC) has expressed sympathy to the family of the dead victims.
“He urged motoring public to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before hitting the road.”
