The Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland and Chairman Council of Hausawa/Arewa Chiefs, Oyo State, Alhaji Ahmed Zungeru has disclosed that over 10 million northerners are presently living in peace with their hosts across the South West states .
The Sarki dropped this hint while speaking during the installation of six new lesser chiefs under the authority and leadership of Sarkin Hausawa in Ibadan held in Sabo area of Ibadan at the weekend
Alhaji Zungeru cautioned that in the overall interest of the corporate existence of Nigeria as a country, there is the urgent need for those presently working against the peace of the country to have a rethink.
According to the Sarkin Hausawa, there is the need for the Hausa community across the South West and Ibadan in particular to continue to live in peace wherever they reside in the zone by always engaging in activities that would promote peace and tranquillity in the zone and the country at large.
Speaking further, Alhaji Zingeru while soliciting the support of Nigerians for the federal government in the on going war against Boko Haram insurgency and other major challenges facing the country, lauded President Muhammadu for his efforts at decimating Boko Haram insurgents.
“Nigerians should continue to do things that could promote peace, harmony and peaceful coexistence in the country. We need no one to reveal to us the sorry situation of security in Nigeria occasioned by the Boko Haram menace before the present administration came on board, crushing them through the relentless efforts of the Armed Forces.”
The newly turbaned lesser Chiefs included Manir Mohammed (Wakilin Sarkin Samari), Mukhtar Ali Sani (Uban Doma), Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna (Barde), Alhaji Isa Naladu (Chairman, Ibadan Hausa community, Sasa Market), Ilyasu Abdulmumuni Gado (Magajin Gari) and Alhaji Usman Garba Leku (Magajin Gari).
Alhaji Zingeru while praying that God should grant the new Chiefs wisdom, protect them and give them long lives to enable them serve humanity in the state called for a dynamic community policing to promote, encourage peaceful coexistence and stability in their respective states.
The Sarki urged the chiefs to spend time working for the people as well as fortifying the unity of the country.
The ceremony was attended by the Secretary General, Sasa Market Association, Alhaji Ismaila Bamidele, Alhaji Malla Yahya Abubakar, Alhaji Adebayo Alabere, former state commissioner, Barrister Lowo Obisesan and a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Muhammad Kola Balogun among others.
