New Nigerian Mourns As  Former MD Dies

A former Managing Director of the New Nigerian Newspapers, Malam Tukur Othman has passed on after a protracted illness.

According to a statement from the family, the veteran journalist died in early hours of  Friday August 26 2022 in a medical facility located in Kaduna State capital.

The statement further added that  funeral prayers would be performed on the deceased by congregants after observing the Jummat  prayer at Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna.

In his condolence message to the bereaved family, acting Managing Director of the company, Alhaji Yusuf Musa Kontagora  eulogized leadership virtues of the former MD.

Kontagora described him  as a committed and hard-working leader during whose time  as head of the pioneer Northern Regional tabloid giant established by the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, indelible progress and development were made in the company.

He prayed for repose of the soul of the deceased and asked for Allah’s comfort for the family he left behind.

Malam Tukur Othman was MD of New Nigerian Newspapers from 1980 to 1984 and reappointed for a second term by the military administration of Gen Ibrahim Babangida in 1990.

He held sway as MD untill 1993, when he retired into a private life.

He is survived by two wives and 16 children.
