Worried by the dwindling fortunes of the country at international competitions, the Directors of Sports Forum is finalizing plans to as part of the activities lined up for the second edition of the National Youth Games  host a seminar, aimed at leveraging on the gains of the games.

Chairman Directors of Sports Forum, Mallam Tunde Kazeem dropped this hint while speaking on phone with our correspondent.

According to him, the seminar with theme; ‘National Youth Games as Tool For Sports Diversification’ would be anchored by former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

“The seminar would be coming up on 28th of September during the peak of the National Youth Games,” he informed.

Explaining further, he said that it is expected to attract all Directors of Sports in the country, including those from private sector, military and para-military formations, as well as educational institutions.
“The Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed is expected to declare the seminar open, while the Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung will serve as Guest of Honour, while the Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin will Chair the session.

“It is going to be big as former Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Dr. Amos Adamu and the League Management Company (LMC) boss, Shehu Dikko are expected to deliver lectures,” he disclosed.

Mallam Kazeem said that being major stakeholders in the country, the Directors of Sports will use the seminar to chart a new course for sports.

On how they intend to bankroll the seminar, he explained that though they are still looking forward to partnership, they are already getting some sponsorship considerations.

“We are looking for partners. For now, the Cricket Federation through its President has indicated interest to sponsor, we are still for corporate sponsorship because we actually lack the financial muscle for it because it is a big national event,” he emphasized.

Speaking further, he said that in the nearest future, the Forum is mulling to also hold capacity building seminars for its members and other key stakeholders.
