NATFORCE Waiting For NASS Approval To Operate Fully – Initiator

A security expert, Malam Yahaya Rayyan Zaria and the initiator of the National Taskforce on the Prohibition of Illegal Importation, Smuggling of Arms and Ammunition, Light Weapons (NATFORCE) has said that the organization  is seeking for the National Assembly’s approval to enable its operations properly. He disclosed this in an interview with New Nigerian, that the security outfit  has approached the National Assembly through a bill, seeking legislative approval for the organisation to operate legally in the country.
He said the bill has scaled the first and second reading, awaiting the third and final reading.
Yahaya Rayyan enthused that since all the principal officers of the two chambers of the National Assembly are also unanimous in support of the decision to approach them and positive result is expected for the good of the people of Nigeria.
While explaining that, “for the agency to work well, it needs the legal backing  as legal teeth to bark and bite properly.”
He disclosed that the current Director-General of NATFORCE, Dr. Baba Mohammed has commenced efforts towards ensuring that it gets this legal teeth.
He therefore, commended the founder, Baba Mohammed for taking the right steps towards legislative endorsement of NATFORCE to operate in Nigeria legally as a recognised security outfit.
 “It is only through that process that the organization would be able to achieve its two major objectives of assisting the government to fight crime and provide jobs for the teeming youth of this country,” he added.
The security expert is of the belief that President Muhammadu Buhari would love the outfit because of the benefits accruable to the citizenry, saying, “any arrangement that could secure the country from the claws of insecurity and keep the youth out of the street through gainful engagement would be welcomed by him.
