*Police denies mutilation of victim’s body
RAYMOND TEDUNJAYE, Lagos
The fleeing driver of the BRT bus in which a 22-year lady Oluwabamise Ayanwole was reportedly abducted has been arrested and parade by the police.
The Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alabi while parading the suspect identified as Nice Andrew at the Command’s headquarters at about 7.30pm, said he was arrested by operatives of the Department of Security Service (DSS) in Ososa in Ogun State and handed over my to the Command.
Alabi also denied insinuations that part of the lady’s body have been mutilated, saying he personally inspected it at the mortuary.
Sadly, the Commisissioner of Police disclosed that information was received that the lifeless body of lady was found on Carter bridge by Ogogoro community while intensive investigation was ongoing.
” While our operatives was working tirelessly and we’re almost closing on the suspect in his criminal hideout in Ogun State,, information was received from our sister agency, the DSS that he has been arrested by their operatives.
This report gladdens our heart and consoles us because concerted efforts of the police and our strategic partners eventually yielded the desired result”, Alabi stated.
He assured the public and the bereaved family of the victim that justice will be served in the case.
Alabi also posited that the command has strengthened its security architecture and repositioned officers and men towards providing adequate and sustainable security for all and sundry in the state.
Efforts to speak with the suspect proved abortive as the Commissioner of Police declined the request by journalists.
It will be recalled that the victim, Ayanwale Oluwabamise 22year old, was said to have boarded a BRT bus in Lagos from Chevron bus stop, Lekki, heading to Oshodi on 26th February, 2022 at about 7.00am and has not been seen until her dead body was found on the bridge on Sunday.
