Katsina State Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has directed his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Katsina to liaise with the State Director Department of security services (DSS) to studying the report of the technical committee on security presented by the Coalition of Northern Group (CNG).
Governor Aminu Masari was speaking shortly after he received the report of the group at General Muhammadu Buhari (Government) House, Katsina.
He promised to circulate the working document to the Northern Governors through the leadership of Northern Governors’ forum.
Governor Masari however, directed the Group to collectively meet with other state governors in the region to discuss more about the security challenges.
He emphasized that his administration was maintaining its open door policy to allow for all individual and group wishing to contribute on how best to secure the lives and property of people in the state as well as the territorial integrity.
On his part, the National coordinator of the coalition of Northern group Comrade Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi recalled that the report was in response to directive to that effect by the governor during their last courtesy call about two weeks ago where he directed the special Adviser on security matters to partner with them in forming a technical committee to review issue of security in the state.
He said the committee made thorough research particularly on the areas of youths restiveness, drug addictions, armed banditry, religious and ethics problem in the north before coming up with the report. Comrade Jamilu Charanchi said the committee identified religious and ethics divisions as the major contributing factor to the problem.
He hoped that the report would not be limited to Katsina state but to other States in the northern region.
However, chairman of the technical committee Abdul’aziz Suleiman presented a comprehensive documents for long and short term measures in addressing security challenges.
