*No cultural items lost, says Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace

A building apartment within the courtyard of the Palace of the Ooni of Ife was late Friday night, engulfed in a fire incident reportedly triggered by power surge which exploded through electrical appliances in the affected apartment.
According to a statement by the Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace. Otunba Moses Olafare, the incident occured at about 11:30pm
Otunba Olafare stressed in the statement that, ” the inferno did not spread beyond the affected building located at a section of the palace premises as it was swiftly put off through the combined efforts of the Government Fire Service, OAU Fire Service and Palace Emergency Control Unit”.
The Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace emphasized that, ” no casualties, no injuries was recorded and no cultural items lost” in the inferno
