Lagos Police Boss  Reels Out Achievements, Apprehends 2,329 Suspects In 100 Days, Recovers 20 Firearms

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Adegoke Fayoade, on Wednesday,  reeled out his achievements since assumption of office, disclosing that a total number of 2,329 suspected criminals were arrested within the period.

Fayoade, who clocked 100 days in office, also disclosed that a total number of 2,253 out of the figure have been prosecuted, while many others are being processed for prosecution.

Addressing  newsmen at the Police Officers Mess, GRA, Ikeja where he unveiled the successes, the Police Commissioner hinted that the suspects were arrested for various crime offences ranging from cultism, armed robbery, Kidnappers among others.

He added that some stolen property were also recovered under the period in review.

Specifically, Fayoade disclosed that 64 suspects were arrested in February for their involvement in varying crimes which include armed robbery, cultism and unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful possession of illicit drugs among others.

Additionally, he said a total of  number of 20 firearms, including four toy guns, 120 rounds of toy ammunition, twenty-eight 28 live ammunition, fifteen 15 live cartridges and three expended cartridges were recovered.

Equally, the Police boss said four vehicles, POS machine, seven cutlasses, illicit drugs and various charms were recovered from the suspects.

According to him, total of 4,502 motorcycles have so far been impounded on banned routes by the command and have been handed over to the state government for crushing.

On the strategy behind the remarkable achievements, he said, ” In the past days, I have piloted the affairs of the Command with all sense of professionalism, charging my men to be up and doing and not spearing the big stick on officers found wanting. 

” We have rejigged our township patrol, paying special attention to high-risk areas especially at peak periods. This has helped a lot to reduce traffic robberies. 

” The enforcement on the ban of motorcycle is not left out as our continuous enforcement drives have been yielding positive results.”

He emphasised that the command has resolved to continue to improve on its performance by regularly reviewing its strategies, re-jig its  men and motivate them for better performance.
