Nigeria Football Federation, NFF 1st vice President Seyi Akinwunmi said that Lagos State Football Association, FA will soon organize a seminar to sensitize stakeholders on what it takes to run a grassroots football clubs and also keep players abreast of their rights. He stated this when he addressed players and officials of Young Stars FC of Lagos who organized a new year party aimed ar charting a course for year 2017. According to Akinwumi who also doubles as Chairman of Lagos State FA said the seminar became important so as to keep all shareholders updated with the rules and regulations of running football teams. Speaking at the ocassion, Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor on Sports, Adeboye Anthony Adyinka charged members of the Young Stars FC of Lagos to remain focused and dedicated even as he assured that the team is capable of producing talented players for the country. “I want the players to be dedicated and loyal to their coaching crew as that is the only way they can make it in future. “This is a team from Lagos with a lot of potentials and we must have to encourage them to excel. The presence of the NFF 1st vice President/ Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Seyi Akinwumi is an indication that they will receive support from the state FA and I urge them to be focused”, noted Adeyinka who also doubles as a board member of the team. On the forthcoming Lagos City Marathon slated for February 11, he described it as evidence of the passion the state Governor has for sports noting that noting that the state is ready for the race. Chairman of the club, Adedapo Olumide Olowu explained that the vision of the club is to empower the youths and create opportunities for them to achieve their dreams in the round leather game. Young Stars FC was formed in 1986 with the sole aim of taking youths away from the streets. The team which was officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission has produced great players in the past such as former Super Eagles goal merchant, Obafemi Martins, late Ladi Popoola, Lateef Salami and Folarin Jones amongst others. |
