Kano Electric  Clarifies  Reasons Behind Picketing  Its Offices By   Union

The management of Kano electricity  Distribution Company (KEDCO) has clarified that the industrial action embarked upon which resulted in picketing of its offices  by the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) is due to lingering staff welfare issues which was accumulated over the last six years.

A statement issued  by the KEDCO management to newsmen in Kano, said, ” the current management since taking over in July 2022, has settled entitlements when due and robust plans have been drawn and the outstanding is being paid  in batches, due to inability to settle all at once, owing to current liquidity crises in the power sector”. 

The management assured  all concerned that it is currently engaging with relevant stakeholders to resolve the issue and discuss lasting solution to all lingering matters.

“While acknowledging that the Union are now keen to resolving these issues that have lingered for over 6 years, the current management remains steadfast in attending to all staff obligations,” the statement concluded.
