Kaduna State’s oldest market, Kasuwar Barci, has reopened after three years of reconstruction as  Traders are urged to return to their shops by the Kaduna South Local Government Area Chairman Kabiru Yakubu Jarimi.

The market was previously demolished by former Governor Nasir el-Rufai for modernization, causing many traders to lose shops and capital. Despite reconstruction, some hesitated to apply for their shops  due to high shop rates.

The  LGA Chairman Jarimi, represented by his Secretary Abdulrahman Yahaya, pleads for forgiveness, saying those advising traders not to return do not mean well for them.

“I’m pleading with you to forgive and forget what happened in the past and see the benefit of returning to the new market. Stop listening to those merchants that own plazas around the market advising you not to return because they want you to continue renting their shops,” he said.

The Project Coordinator, Muhammad Bello, announced the completion of 1271 shops, with all those who got allocation given back their shops.

Traders Chairman Alhaji Bala Network joins in appealing to traders to return and occupy shops inside the market, saying it will be a blessing for them in the future.

Similarly, the Representative of the District Head of Tudun Wada, Dr Abdullahi Maikudi, highlights Kasuwar Barci Market’s long history as one of the oldest in the state. He urges the state government and the market construction company to make it easy for shop owners to return.
