Kaduna State Commissioners to sign performance bond
By; Samson Yaki, Kaduna.
All Commissioners in Kaduna State will be made to sign performance bond as a commitment to make judicious use of whatever is put into their budget.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Budget and Planning Honourable Mohammed Sani Abdullahi after the defense of his ministry’s budget at the State House of Assembly.
Honourable Abdullahi said every ministry is expected to submit the proposed plan of activities for the year ahead to the Ministry for proper monitoring.
He said, “we are expecting detailed work plan from all ministries and agencies in order to programme our resources and to know what each ministry is expected to implement quarterly and report to the Governor. And anybody caught lagging behind or sleeping on his job will face the wrath of the Governor”.
Commenting on the state budget in general, the planning commissioner maintained that the budget is in proportion to the revenue the State government can generate and the projects it has on ground for the year 2016 .
“We want to prioritise on what the state can fund in this budget and we have done a lot of technical exercises and gone through the revenues and all the projections and feel what ministries are given is a representation of what the state can afford.
“My ministry is mainly a coordinating ministry in the area of planning, budgeting, monitoring and international coordination and we are coming up with a wholistic development strategy for the state for better coordination, organising economic summits and better coordination of international partners” he added.
