The Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, on Thursday said that the Kaduna State Government is spending 16% of its budgetary allocation on health and 26% on education to develop the human capital of its citizens.
Dr Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe stated this when she received a team from the Legislative Advocacy Initiative for Sustainable Development (LISDEL) who came to government house for a working visit.
The Deputy Governor explained that there are a lot of things the state is doing on health issues and education.
“We will continue to do our best as we have made a commitment that we will stand strong as we started even to the end,” she said.
According to her, more than 90 per cent of all they get goes into payment of salary.
“We are trying to generate more especially in the health sector,” she revealed.
She said they are trying to make sure everyone has access to primary healthcare services in Kaduna State.
Dr. Hadiza said, “it is sad to see a women with pregnancy and children dying over lack of quick access to health centres.”
She explained on what they are doing in ensuring services get to hard to reach areas through use of drones.
*We have drones which deliver essential medicines and blood to places and they are delivering 24/7 365 in a year and this will reduce maternal mortality.
“The primary healthcare has recruited 1, 025 staff of different categories.
“We want to ensure that we can deliver services to the the people,” she pointed out.
Dr. Hadiza said that they buy drugs directly from manufacturers, rather than going through the middle men because they are looking for quality from different perspectives.
“From the perspective of government, we believe we have done our best.
“We will continue to put in our best because we don’t take issues of health for granted, we will not relent in doing our best.
“As far as Kaduna is concerned, we believe in partnerships that are good that will make improvement in the lives of our people, it will improve health, wellbeing and survival of our people,” she said.
In a remark, the Vice Chairman of Legislative Advocacy Initiative for Sustainable Development (LISDEL) and former Commissioner of Education in Kaduna State, Hon. Muhammad Usman said they were re in Kaduna to collaborate with the government of the state to enhance health outcomes and optimise primary healthcare delivery in Kaduna State.
He said the state is a champion in the health sector, hence others emulate it.
He noted that they are enhancing primary healthcare and their focus is to raise voice and advocate the voice of women in the public sector.
