Kaduna INEC  Commences Distribution Of PVCs This Week, Says Over 8,000 BVAS Machines In Custody

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Kaduna State, Dr. Mahuda Isah on Thursday December 8, 2022, stated that  INEC Kaduna office is ready to commence distribution of PVCs on December 12,  2022, while  confirming that over 8,000 BVAS machines have been received.

Speaking during his first interactive session with stakeholders in Kaduna, Dr. Isah revealed that all eligible and valid registrants can collect their PVCs from

9:00am to 3:00pm daily, including Saturdays and Sundays.

Isah said the aim of the commission is also to prevent abuse of the cards by unscrupulous persons emphasizing that the collection of the PVC is only by lawful owners as INEC forbids collation by proxy.

On enlightenment, the INEC commissioner maintained that, “we have been on the media for quite a while, undertaking jingles in local languages, interviews/programmes by senior staff of the state office of the commission, a cine rover vehicle has also been deployed traversing all the nooks and crannies of the state for enlightening the public on the activities of the commission.

On election materials, he said, “both sensitive and non-sensitive materials, so far, we have received over 8,000 BVAS machines, voting cubicles and ballot boxes according to the number of Polling Units (PUs) 

The Commissioner announced that “a total number of registered voters  approximately as at 2022 is as follows;

“Total No. of Registration Areas (RAs/Wards) 4,411,723-RAs, 255-wards, total No. of Polling Units 8,012.”

On security, the representative of the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mamam Giwa said that the areas that were ravaged by insecurity have been taken care of.

According to him,  “a lot of efforts have been put in place, the manpower to support operations in Kaduna is considered, assuring that the Inspector General of Police is supporting Kaduna to archive that”.

He explained that recently,  all political candidates and stakeholders met and showed good relationship between political parties and the police.
