*markets, shops, banks, schools shut down

There is serious tension in Ebonyi State currently, following the alleged attack launched by unknown gunmen in different parts of the state.
At exactly 9:30am, people started running helter skelter from different parts of the state for the safety of their lives and property.
In an interview with some women who were running back from Margaret Umahi International Market, who wouldn’t want their names in print, lamented that there was shooting near the market from unidentified gun men, which made the entire traders to run for safety.
Also, unconfirmed reports have it that the same gunmen set Ishieke Market on fire Monday morning, while one vehicle was also torched in another market called “New Market”, along Abakaliki Enugu Express way. It was also gathered that one police officer was shot dead at Kpirirkpiri, opposite stadium.
As it is presently, all the markets, schools, banks, shops, offices are shut down, while people who left earlier to their various places of business were looking for a means of going back home as at time of filing this report.
People were sighted standing in groups, discussing the new development.
A joint security team was also seen patrolling with their Hilux vehicles around the town.
When contacted for his reaction over the rising tension in the state, the Commissioner for Police in Ebonyi State, CP Garba Aliyu, debunked the situation, saying that there was no attack anywhere in the state, adding that he was on patrol.
