The Commissioner of Police Kaduna State Command CP Yekini A Ayoku psc(+), mni,  has said that  he is seriously worried at the unacceptable and patently illegal resort to mob action, lynching and extra judicial killings by individuals in parts of the state.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO),  DSP Muhammed Jalige, said that, “This barbaric act cannot find justification under our laws. The responsibility of everyone under the law is not to pass judgment but to handover anyone suspected of any infraction or offence, no matter the degree of suspicion, to the police or other appropriate security /law enforcement agency.

“In the recent incident of 2nd October, 2022 where two herders were mobbed and lynched at Birnin Gwari, the CP has assured that the ongoing investigations into the case will be thorough and anyone found either directly or remotely involved in the sordid and reprehensible act will face the consequences of their illegal action as the full weight of the law would be bought upon them.”

Citizens and residents of Kaduna State were therefore,  strongly advised to resist the temptation of resorting to self help and taking the laws into their hands as the command will not watch idly  while misguided elements operating under whatever guise engage in actions capable of truncating the peace and security of the state.

The Commissioner of Police further assured members of the public that the security forces in Kaduna State will continue to work assiduously and ramp up its ongoing onslaught against the enemies of our collective security in every part of the state.

The CP called for all hands to continue to be on deck, while soliciting for the cooperation of all segments of the society in the joint responsibility of securing the state.
