The Kaduna State Community and Social Development Agency (KADCSDA) has said that it is partnering  UNICEF to improve social development in vulnerable communities in the state.

Muhammed Mukaddas, General Manager of the agency, made this known in a meeting with UNICEF officials on Wednesday in Kaduna.

He said that the visit was to strengthen collaboration to improve the social, economic conditions of people at the grassroots through prompt service delivery geared towards poverty reduction in the state.

Mukaddas said the collaboration would enhance the capacity of local people to undertake community projects.

He enjoined his team to embrace the opportunity and give all necessary support for the collaboration to succeed.

Mrs  Gerida Birukila, Kaduna Chief Field Officer, said community members must participate in the design and planning of any intervention for it to succeed.

‘‘We cannot talk about development without placing emphasis on education, health, water and sanitation for women and children, being the most vulnerable groups in the communities.

‘‘UNICEF’s interventions focus on communities and by extension, households where social developments start from, ” she noted.

Birukila said that UNICEF would collaborate with the state government through KADCSDA to improve social development in vulnerable rural and urban poor communities of the state, acknowledging that both agencies had similar mandates.
