*Dep Gov says sports fosters peaceful co-existence

Zaria Local Government Area have emerged champions of the Kaduna @ 55 Soccer Tournament.
They beat hard fighting Kubau in the final match played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Friday June 17, 2022.
Zaria scored the only goal of the encounter in the first half via a penalty, after a player was brought down in the box.
Earlier in the third placed match, Jema’a LG defeated Chikun to grab the bronze.
Deputy Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe said that sports has changed a lot of hostilities in communities by fostering peace.
She said that the competition brought the 23 LGAs together.
Represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Kaduna Government House, Barrister James Kanyip said that recently, Gov el-Rufai hosted several teams that made the state proud in 2021.
She said the Murtala Square has been remodelled and is now a one-stop sports centre.
She was optimistic that with more sporting activities, crime would be reduced to its barest minimum.
Dr. Balarabe thanked the LGAs and their teams for participating.
She congratulated Zaria LGA for emerging champions, while congratulating the silver and bronze medalists
Trophies, medals and sets of jerseys were presented to the gold, silver and bronze medalists.
Some of the dignitaries spotted at the final match were, Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe represented by Deputy Chief of Staff, Kaduna Government House, James Kanyip, Commissioner of Sports Development, Dr. Idris Samaila Nyam, Kaduna State FA Chairman, Honourable Sherreef Alkassim, Permanent Secretary Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development, Alhaji Yamusa and Director of Sports Kaduna State, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim.
The competition was organised by the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development and featured the 23 local government areas in the state.
