*Action Against Hunger donates support items millions of Naira

An outbreak of cholera has claimed one life, with scores of patients receiving medical attention in Auyo Local Government Area in Jigawa State.
This prompted the attention of the state Ministry of Health to draft a team of medical personnel with medication to the area to safe lives.
Briefing newsmen at his office, the acting Commissioner of Health, Dr. Salisu Muazu confirmed the outbreak, stating, “but we are on top of the situation as our medical teams are already there overseeing patients.
“We have taken cogent measures to curtail spill-over of the illness to neigbouring councils”.
He called on the communities to guard against using contaminated water, and avoid uncooked food.
The commissioner enjoined them to abide by precautionary measures to avoid indiscriminate spread of the illness.
On its part, a non governmental organization, the Action Against Hunger has donated support items worth several millions of naira to compliments the Jigawa State Government efforts to curb down the menace.
The donation of the items was made through the Ministry of Health by the NGO’s Field Officer, Mr. Othanial Kigir.
The items donated are meant to support the Jigawa State Government’s efforts in the fight against the cholera outbreak and also to help people affected by recent flood.

Items donated include, 780 pieces of plastics jerrycan, 390 pieces of plastic buckets, 780 plastic cups and 4,656 all purpose soap.
Others include 8,580 Oral Rehydration Supplement, 1 bag of water guard, 390 pieces of carriage bag and six drums of 45kg chlorine respectively.
Speaking while receiving the items, the Jigawa State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Salisu Muazu, expressed government’s gratitude for the support, adding that Action Against Hunger has been partnering with the state government for a very long time and the support is yielding positive impact on the lives of Jigawa people.
He reiterated the commitment of Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar-led government to continue partnering with the organization and any development partners.
