It Is Our Responsibility To Maintain Power Supply Infrastructure, Kaduna Electric MD Asserts

The Managing Director/ CEO of Kaduna Electric, Engr. Yusuf Usman Yahaya has expressed the readiness of the Company to collaborate with traditional institutions and local government authorities to address issues surrounding security of power supply infrastructure, metering, commercial performances of various communities, bill’s payment challenges, reduction of down time and other sundry issues as the Company is being reposition for effective service delivery.

Engr. Yahaya made the pledge yesterday in Zaria during an interactive session with electricity users from Zaria, Sabon Gari, Soba, Makarfi, Ikara, Kudan and Giwa local government councils, the areas that constitute Zaria Region of the company.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Company to continue to inter-face with its customers and other stakeholders alike in order to create better understanding and sustainable beneficial business relationship between the company and the customers.

“We attach high premium to feedback from our customers and shall always welcome such feedbacks so that we should improve on what we are doing well and review or even change what is not working”, he said.

Engr. Yusuf Yahaya called on electricity users in the Company’s franchise to be alive to their responsibilities, as this is the only way Kaduna Electric will remain a participant in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Market.

“We cannot remain a participant in the Market nor provide you and your businesses with the much needed power if we continuously fail to pay for the electricity being supplied to us; we must discharge our obligations to the market, which entails paying the generation and Transmission Companies for the energy generated and transmitted to us, if we want to remain a participant in the market”, he asserted.

He also announced that the Company shall always make the needed investment to improve electricity services to the customer.

He however, cautioned that the company shall always give priority to areas and communities whose commercial performances are above average.

In his contribution, the Representative of the Emir of Zazzau, the Barden Kerarriyan Zazzau and the District Head of Bassawa, Arch. Haruna Abubakar Bamalli charged Kaduna Electric to explore ways of collaborating with traditional rulers and ensure adequate training for its personnel.

In their separate remarks, the Dan Barhin Zazzau and the District Head of Sabon Gari, Alhaji Ahmad Bashar Aminu and the Jarman Kudun Zazzau, the District Head of Waje, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu Bamalli commended Kaduna Electric and called for more constructive engagements with stakeholders.
