Insecurity: Katsina Sets Up Committee On Mobile Police Base Establishment In Kankara

A ten-man committee to study and advice Katsina State Government on proposal for the establishment of a new Mobile Police Squadron at Kankara in Kankara Local Government Area In the state has been inaugurated.

The Committee has Permanent Secretary (Cabinet and Security), Governor’s office, Alhaji Sulaiman Safana as Chairman and Alhaji Hamza Audi Kofar Bai of the Governor’s office as Secretary respectively.

Speaking while inaugurating the committee in his office, Secretary to the Government of Katsina State (SGS), Alhaji Muktari Lawal said the committee has three weeks of inauguration within with to submit its report.

Alhaji Lawal who spoke on behalf of Governor Aminu Bello Masari, named the terms of reference as to study and advice government on the proposal for the establishment of a new Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron at Kankara.

Alhaji Muktari Lawal said the proposal for the establishment of the Mobile Police Base in Kankara emanated from a request which Katsina state government submitted to the Inspector General of Police in a letter no. Sec.270/T.1/63 of March 9,2022 highlighting amongst others the need for a befitting Police Mobile Squadron in the area to be added to those in Katsina and Daura in order to tackle activities of armed bandits, cattle rustlers and kidnapers across Funtua Senatorial Zone  of the state.

Consequently, Alhaji Muktari Lawal said Governor Bello Masari approved the constitution of the Committee to advise Government on the Proposal with membership and terms of reference.

Other members of the Committee includes:- Chairman Kankara Local Government Council; Representatives of the office of Head of Civil Service of the state; Ministry of Lands and Survey and Representative of the state Police Commissioner.

Others are, Representatives of the state Director of Security; Representative Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport; Representative Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and District Head of Kankara.
