Students and Civil Society Organisations (CSO)  coalition, Nigerians Arise Movement, has called for immediate rejection of tactical increase in the pump price of petrol in the country

Speaking through the National Coordinator of All Workers Convergence, (AWC), Comrade Andrew Emelieze on Tuesday at the Oyo State Secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress ,(NLC) in Agodi , Ibadan, the coalition kicked against the ongoing pump price increase across the country

Comrade Emelieze during a protest tagged, “Operation Resist Hardship”specifically  tasked the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),  the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and other workers unions in the country to rise up from their slumber and defend the Nigerians masses.

He stressed that it was unfortunate that the NLC, TUC and other workers union across the country are keeping quiet as well as “sleeping for too long” amidst the continuous hardships on Nigerians.

According to Comrade Emelieze, it is  time for the leadership of the NLC , TUC and other workers unions in Nigeria to rise up and jointly reject the increase, alleging that Federal Government is bent on increasing the pump price of Petrol and that it is only the NLC. TUC and other workers unions that can fight for the masses.

” We are here to tell the NLC, the TUC to speak out on the fuel Price hike, we are here to tell them that they have slept off. The Nigeria Labour Congress and  the Trade Union Congress should wake up and  rescue workers and Nigerians from hardship”, he said.

The coalition spokesperson added,  “We  say no to fuel price hike. Our major agreement at the rally is to continue to have a permanent constant protest until our people are free from hardship.

“For a start, it shall be protest every Mondays, Monday Protest,  Nigerians Arise, No retreat no surrender, It shall be from #EndSARS to #EndHardship. People arise, what we need now is permanent protest”.

Members of the coalition during the protest, displaced  placards having inscriptions such as ” Labour Wake Up”, “Nigeria Cost Of Living Crisis”. ” Protest @ President Muhammadu Buhari pay Cost Of Allowance”, ” Workers are suffering in silence”. ”
