Gov el-Rufai Pledges Support To Seven Slain NSCDC Families

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has assured of his readiness to support the families of slain officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Brinin-Gwari area of the state.

New Nigerian recalls that seven personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) were ambushed by bandits and killed alongside five others from a sister security agency and local security service on the 9th January, 2023 in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The personnel, all attached to the Kaduna State Ministry of Mines, were ambushed by the bandits and killed while on official duty at a mining site in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.

Making the pledge when playing host to Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General of NSCDC, where Governor el-Rufai extended condolences to the CG on the deaths of the personnel who died in active service, stated that the support would help cushion the effects of the hardship that the loss of the victims may have created in their families.

Olusola Odumosu, the corps spokesperson, in a statement on Sunday, explained that el-Rufai symphatised with the loved ones left behind and the NSCDC family, pledging his continuous support in terms of logistics, operational equipment, and working tools to improve its operational services in the state.

el-Rufai hailed the performance of the corps as it relates to the protection of critical assets and infrastructure in the state, citing the mining sector as significant to the growth of the nation’s economy which the personnel showed great patriotism.

According to el-Rufai, “I will direct all local government chairmen in the state to build more outposts for the corps in their local government areas.”

He expressed delight with the CG’s initiatives for bringing transformational changes in the corps, like the establishment of the Special Female Squad, stressing that it was driving the Safe Schools Initiative, among other efforts.

The Commandant General thanked the governor for his magnanimity in remembering the bereaved families and his willingness to support the families of the deceased.
