Five Students In Police Net Over Oromoni’s Death

At least, five  students allegedly mentioned by the late 12-year-old student of Dowen College in Lekki, Sylvester Oromoni jnr, are now in police custody for interrogation, New Nigerian Newspapers has learnt.

It was gathered that three out of the students were picked up by detectives and are cooperating with the police to unravel those that inflicted injuries on the deceased teenager, which later led to his death in Lagos.

According to information, the two others were  brought hours for  to ascertain if they were responsible for the injuries sustained by the deceased while in the school hostel.

Before his death, the late Slyvester while writhing in pain, was said to have mentioned names of five senior students from the school that often bullied him and attacked him on that fateful day in his hostel.

Among the names said to have been mentioned by the deceased include Adewale Kashamu, believed to be a son of late senator Buruji Kashamu, whose family have, however, exonerated from the incident.

As gathered, the students were invited by the Divisional Police Officer of Maroko Police Station and were said to have later been taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba for questioning.

The students, who were interrogated at the SCID, it was gathered, were accompanied to the police station by their parents and lawyers, to guide them on their response.

A source at the Department disclosed to  that the students were currently been held there for questioning pending when the police would complete their findings.

Confirming the development, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, told newsmen on Tuesday that the students were currently assisting the police to identify everyone involved in the case.

Odumosu, although did not give identities of those in the custody, but insisted that they were key suspects in the incident and that they were minor whose identity should be protected.

The police boss hinted that the Command in collaboration with the Delta Command were set to conduct a post mortem examination on Sylvester’s body in Delta State to ascertain the cause of death.

He assured Nigerians that the police authorities in both states were keenly interested in the outcome of the investigation to unravel the mystery behind Sylvester’s death.
