Father Allegedly Kills Teacher Over Punishment Of Son In Delta

An aggrieved father, who engaged a teacher in a squabble over the punishment meted on his son is now cooling his heels in police net in Delta over the alleged murder of another teacher in the school.

Our correspondent gathered that the father named, Nnajiofor Nweke is being held responsible  for the death of a teacher Identified as Ufah Sunday who slumped and died while separating the suspect and his colleague during the brawl.

As gathered, trouble started when Nnajiofor Nweke, father to one Emmanuel Nweke stormed his son’s school named Alihame Mixed Secondary School, Agbor on 18th, October 2023, at about 9.00am to protest the punishment meted on his child by a teacher.

The Delta State Police Command Spokesperson DSP Bright Edafe while confirming the incident said,  “The suspect went to the school premises aggressively in search of one of the school teachers over a punishment meted on his son at the school. 

” The suspect on sighting the said teacher, picked a cane in the school and started flogging him during which another teacher one Ufah Sunday while trying to mediate and stop him, slumped and was rushed to central hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctor.

” Suspect is currently in custody and investigation is ongoing”.

While commenting on the incident, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass,  warned all residents, particularly the youths, on the dangers of jungle justice. 

He further urged that they should learn to always lean on the instituted law enforcement agencies in their pursuit for justice.
