Contrary to insinuations by KASTELA that Sunday Ibrahim was not stabbed by their Marshall, an eye witness, Mr Edwin Kure has denied ever given such a written statement in the police station.

Edwin Kure told newsmen in Kaduna that when himself and other colleagues went to KASTELA office in connection with the arrest of their colleague working with 7Up Bottling Company, Sunday Ibrahim wasn’t with them but later came to the KASTELA office to meet them to plead for the release of their colleague.

He said it was in the process of pleading with KASTELA staff that an argument ensured between Sunday Ibrahim and the KASTELA staff when the KASTELA staff allegedly stabbed Sunday Ibrahim.

“This was the verbal explanation l gave at the police station, but l did not write any statement stating that it was not the KASTELA staff that stabbed Sunday Ibrahim,” he explained.

Earlier, the mother of 27 years old man, Sunday Ibrahim, allegedly stabbed by personnel of the Kaduna State Traffic Enforcement Law Agency, KASTELA, Mrs Grace Ibrahim, cried out for justice calling on the Kaduna State government to settle the N200,000 bill incurred in the hospital following the injuries her son sustained.

Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna,  Mrs Grace said, “As l am talking to you, my son has been discharged from St Gerard Hospital, Kakuri but lam told to pay the money incurred for his treatment before l can take him home.

“I am a widow, my husband was killed in active service by Boko Haram as mobile police personnel at Maiduguri, Borno State.”

The victim, Sunday Ibrahim had while speaking to newsmen on his sick bed called on the state government and well-meaning Nigerians to come to his recuse and ensure that justice is done to him.

He alleged that he sustained several injuries in the hand of a KASTELA staff that stabbed him with a knife and has undergone operation in the hospital.

Ibrahim, a worker with the 7Up Bottling Company said he was within his company’s premises when his colleagues came to informed him that one of the drivers has been arrested by officials of KASTELA and was being beaten in the Agency’s Kakuri office
adjacent to the 7Up Plant.

“We rushed down to the Agency office and saw the officials beating up our staff. We tried to intervene but one of the officers became angry and ordered us to leave the premises immediately.

“We tried to explain to him that no matter the offence of the driver, they don’t have the right to beat him up but the personnel fully dressed in his uniform slapped me and when I tried to complain, he
removed a knife from his trouser and before I know what was happening, he attempted to stabbed me on the neck but I struggled with him and he succeeded in stabbing me in the stomach.

“I fell down and my colleagues later alerted a police man on duty at the 7Up premises who took some of my colleagues to a Police Post Outlet to lay complain and later came to pick me to the hospital.

“Even when the medical personnel refused to admit me unless I produce a police report, it was the police man who stood for me before I was admitted.

“We were asked to deposit N80,000 at the St. Gerald Hospital before commencement of treatment, but my colleagues were able to raise N35,000 and when the hospital Management saw my delicate state,
they ordered that I should be moved immediately to the emergency room and from there to the theatre where the first operation was performed,” he explained.

Ibrahim added that personnel from KASTELA came to meet him in the hospital, asked of his name and what happened and they left.

He also disclosed that two plain cloth policemen have also visited him in the hospital; surprisingly no arrest has been made.

It would be recalled that recently officials of KASTELA and motorists in Kaduna metropolis have been having clashes which led to a riot and planned to set the headquarters ablaze before security
personnel from the Nigeria Police and Civil Defence Corps were called in to calm the situation.
