Ex-Federal Lawmaker Emerges Lagos APC Chairman

A former member of the House of Representatives Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi has emerged as the new Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC)..
He was announced at the party Congress held inside the Mobolaji Bank Anthony Arena, Onikan at the weekend.
Ojelabi, also a former commissioner during the tenure of Babatunde Raji Fashola, with other 35 new Executive members emerged as consensus candidates. 
His emergence also followed the disqualification of another aspirant whose identity was not disclosed.
The Congress was conducted and supervised by the party Committee from the National Headquarters, Abuja, led by Adebayo Adelabu, the party’s candidate at the last gubernatorial election in Oyo State.
In his Speech, the new Chairman promised to take the party to greater heights, just as he called on party members in the state to work with the new executives.
”We are committed to setting our party on a new pedestal. All hands must be on deck. We assure you of our commitment to lead the party to greater heights. I enjoined all party members to come out strongly and complement the efforts of our party leaders. I and my team present ourselves to the good people of Lagos to serve you with all our strength and might”, he said. 
Adelabu however said the party was not aware of any parallel Congress and declared such Congress as illegal. 
He added that the party only recognized the Congress conducted by the Committee which produced him as the new Chairman.

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu congratulated the new chairman and the executives, even as  he also commended the Congress Committee for handling the Congress in a professional way.
The Governor thanked the immediate past Chairman, Hon. Tunde Balogun for piloting the affairs of the party and expressed confidence in the ability of the new Executives to take the party to another level.
